Bamaluz Beach
The remains of Wheal Dream tin mine overlook this quiet, sandy beach. Situated between the harbour and Porthgwidden beach, Bamaluz often goes un-noticed by the majority of visitors.
The beach itself is fairly sheltered from all but an onshore breeze but the high walls can also block out some of the sun. At high tide the beach is also greatly reduced in size and can almost disppear on a spring high.
It is also just below the St Ives Museum.

Parking
Parking on the Island and at Porth Gwidden, but car parks are often full. It is often easier to Park and Ride from Lelant or St Erth stations.

Surfing at Bamaluz
Bamaluz is home to one of St Ives' best "secret spots" - The Breakwater. When it breaks (which isn't that often) the wave is a long walling left hander breaking in front of Smeaton's Peir. It needs a pretty big northerly swell to work but can handle winds right round to west-northwest. On the down side when it works well, it attracts big crowds and it can be really difficult to get a wave
