Your guide to St Ives bay

St Ives Bay is formed by around 7 miles of Cornwall's most glorious coastline. Stretching from the rugged headland of Godrevey Point, with its island lighthouse to the charming town of St Ives to the west. In terms of beaches there are few places in Cornwall, or anywhere else, to rival the bay with golden sand and great surf. But there is more to this area than beaches, there is both artistic and industrial heritage, not to mention world class birdwatching

The historic fishing town of St Ives is the main holiday resort of the Lands End Peninsula and is home to the St Ives School of Painting.

In addition to numerous craft shops and galleries are the Barbara Hepworth museum, the Tate Gallery and the Bernard Leach pottery.

A mild climate, beautiful beaches and numerous hotels and restaurants make St Ives an ideal venue for family holidays.

Hayle town is divided into two districts, Copperhouse and Foundry. Both these names reflect Hayle's industrial herritage which dates back to trading tin with the phoenicians over 2000 years ago. The Foundary end borders on Hayle Estuary, regarded as an international quality bird-watching spot. Sightings include Avocets, Ospreys and a host of wading birds.
